FINAL PROGRAM AT JAMAICA 1 Excelsior Handicap and Rosedale Stakes Features of Closing Day. King Saxon and Psychic Bid Choice in First Mentioned Event — Undefeated Goldey F. in Juvenile Stakes. NEW YORK, N. Y., May 8.— For the last day of the Metropolitan Jockey Club meeting Saturday afternoon, the special features of a seven race program are the Excelsior Handicap and the Rosedale Stakes. The Excelsior is a gallop at a mile and a sixteenth, j to which ,000 is added, and there are eight acceptances of the weights. The Rosedale is a five-furlong dash for juvenile fillies, with ,500 added, and it also has eight named to go to the post. C. H. "Paf Knebelkamp, heartened by the victory of King Saxon in the six-furlong sprint of Thursday, has named him in the Excelsior, which he won last year, and he : is the top weight of the lot, with a burden of 121 pounds. That six-furiong dash may have fitted the five-year-old for this greater distance, but it is probable that the Brook-I meade Stables Psychic Bid, which takes up ! 114 pounds, will be more popular with the 1 handicappers. These are probably the ones that will attract the most attention. Then, A. G. Van-derbilt is represented by a worthy team I when "Bud" Stotler will send out both Good I Harvest and Purple Knight. C. V. Whitney j is represented by Roustabout, and the Green- tree Stable representative is Gillie. Mis. I William Ziegler. Jr., has the filly Esposa as her hope and the other promised starter is Robert S. Clarkes Malbrouk. Each of these has come up to the running in a. way to suggest the renewal will main-I tain the traditions of the stake, the winning I roster of which contains the names of many I good ones. Of the eight named for the Rosedale, the j most notable is Mrs. W. A. Bridges sensational filly, Goldey F., which, after begin- ning modestly in Florida, went right along I unbeaten until she finally scored in the i Aberdeen at Havre de Grace. This miss. ! j 1 which cost only 50 as a yearling, has had j I her final sharpening up at Belmont Park j and, while she is required to give each of j the others seven pounds, she will unquestionably be the choice for the running. James Fitzsimmons will send out a pair in Dizzy Dame, which races for H. W. Maxwell, and Drawbridge, which will bear the silks of the Wheatley Stable. Warren Wright has a worthy representative in Greedy, a . daughter of High Time and Ripe Grape, while less is known of the others, though the work reports on each have been excellent. The setting for the features is interesting and, a nth the promise of fair weather, it is confidently expected that a new attendance I record will be established for the last day of a thoroughly successful session.
