t NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES I 4— • Jockey V. Thompson, leading rider at Tan-foran earlier this year where he rode seventeen winners, is setting a fast pace for others in the first days of the Narragansett meeting. Thompson has had seven mounts here, winning with three and finishing second twice. Racing secretary Pat Horgan, announced Thursday that the new condition book has been sent to the printer and would be in the hands of horsemen by Saturday afternoon. Horsemen here are watching with interest the come-back being attempted by Bill Nertney, contract rider for the C. V. Whitney string. Badly injured in a fall during a race, he was unable to return to the saddle for two years. The boy is back in top form and promises to be one of the leading riders of the year. He has had two winners in the past four days. "Sunny" Jim Fitzsimmons arrived here Thursday with a trio of the Belair Stud and Wheatley Stable property. Leading the division was the four-year-old colt Gallant Prince, nominated to perform in both the King Philip Handicap and the Governors Handicap. The others were Wheatley Stables Faust and the filly Reminding. T. Driscoll will train the horses here. Mrs. F. Coltiletti, wife of the former crack rider, purchased from the Araho Stable, the three-year-old plater Secured. The gelding, a son of Purchase and Hardy Fern, sulked during the running of the third race Wednesday and trainer Bobby Curran decided to dispose of him. Mac Winters, who rode W. G. Clysdales Allen Z., to a sensational victory in the ,000 added Narragansett Handicap, the opening day feature here, has been re-engaged to ride the four-year-old son of Pharamond II. in the King Philip Handicap Saturday. Jockey If. Winters was suspended for five days for an unsatisfactory ride on Dornoch in the third race Thursday. Jockey Mack Winters, who was suspended by the stewards for five days Thursday because of an unsatisfactory ride on Dornoch, which finished out of the money in tha third race, was granted permission by the stewards to keep his engagement in the King Philip Handicap to ride W. G. Clysdales Allen Z. J
