1 KANSAS CITY STABLE ROOM j j IN DEMAND-OPENS MAY 28 j KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 8.— With the opening of the Riverside Jockey Clubs spring meeting still almost three weeks away, stabling room is already at a premium and officials are wondering just what to do with the many applications that are still pouring in. With over 300 horses already quartered on the track and reservations for 300 more accepted it is expected that every stall on the track will be filled a week before the opening. From Bay Meadows. Wm. P. Kyne, general manager of Riverside, writes that at the conclusion of the Bay Meadows meeting a special train will leave that point with eight or more cars of horses for here, in which will be included the large stable of Mrs. C. B. Irwin of sixteen head, headed by the good sprinter, Great Lover, which she recently claimed. Work is now being rushed on the clubhouse and the stands and this morning a large corps of painters started the task of brightening up the buildings. The track proper is in wonderful shape, due to the fact that horses have been galloping over it all winter and many fast works have been reported, and it is the general opinion of horsemen here that many new track records will be established at the coming meeting. The Bahr starting gate which will again be used is being painted and will be put in position next week in the six furlong chute and starter Arthur McKnight will commence his schooling classes.
