PREAKNESS CANDIDATES WORII BALTIMORE. Md., May 9.— Transporter. Preakness candidate of Mrs. Marion Du Pont Somerville, went through an impressive trial over the mile and a quarter route at Pimlico Friday, covering the distance in 2:08:.:;, in handy fashion. Accompanied by Tweedledee for the first five furlongs, Transporter went the opening quarter in :24, half mile in :48"i, and nine furlongs in l:8t%. Tweedledees time for five-eighths was 1:03 f.. Trainer Selby Burch was well satisfied with the trial and believes the Porter colt will go well in the Preakness. Grand Slam, the Bomar Stables hope, was sent through an easy trial at six furlongs, being restrained to :% for the half mire and 1:18% for the three-quarters. Chal-lephen breezed a half mile in :51.
