DIXIANAS LATONIA STRING Trainer Clyde Van Dusen Shipping Detroit-Owned Stable to Covington for Campaigning. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 9— Clyde Van Dusen, trainer of Charles T. Fishers pretentious Dixiana Stable, announced today that he was sending the Fisher horses to ; Latonia for that thirty-seven day season, which gets under way Saturday, May 23. Well fortified with eligibles for the 5,000 , added Latonia Derby, and the six other stakes to be renewed at the Covington : track, Van Dusen will have a score or more horses to participate in the long season. Erin Torch, winner of his last start here, will be made eligible for the Latonia Derby, ; Enquirer Handicap, Independence Handicap and Quickstep Handicap. For the Latonia Oaks Brendard and Thatagal will be named, while Sweepalot, Foolish Moment, Woof and Shootin High will be made eligible for the Clipsetta Stakes and the Cincinnati Trophy. Although Dixiana has participated in stakes racing at Latonia for the past two years, it will be the first time since 1933 that the entire racing string has been assembled at the Milldale course. Van Dusen stated that he has thirty-three horses in training, sixteen of which are here and the , others at Dixiana Farm, and he would be j able to commute from Latonia and the Lex- ! ington estate. Forced to let up on Thatagal, due to a minor ailment, Van Dusen will be unable to have the daughter of Sir Gallahad III. ready for the Kentucky Oaks, to be renewed here the closing day of the meeting, but he expects to have her under colors for the Latonia Oaks. Another prominent stable was added to the long list of reservations this morning I when C. C. Van Meter decided to ship to Latonia. It will be the first time in several years that the Van Meter performers will i be at Latonia, but for many years it was one of the leading establishments of the northern Kentucky season. All of the larger stables going to Latonia will have stake candidates for the Chicago and Detroit meetings, and they will fill their engagements at those tracks. From all indications the best stables to I have been at Latonia in years will be there this season. The stakes and purse values have been increased since last year, ar.d this has aided in attracting a. large number Of ■ leading stables.
