Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. YODEL, strongly ridden to hold a slight lead in the first quarter mile, saved a lot of ground entering the home stretch to move clear in the last eighth, but had to be stoutly urged to withstand AMERICA FIRST at the end. AMERICA FIRST offered stiff opposition from the Start, swerved out entering the stretch, but rallied to punishment when straightened away, and finished determinedly. WULFSTAN, forced to race on the outside while close to the leaders, lost considerable ground and tired in the last threee-sixteenths. CLARION CALL raced forwardly under strong pressure for a half mile, then tired. SUN MICA was never a forward factor. The others were outrun. AXEWORK. restrained off the pace for the first turn of the field, moved into the lead after clearing the twelfth fence, drew clear rapidly and held sway until the close. CURTAIN CALL, far back for the first mile, bettered her position readily when in full stride and closed stoutly to take second in the last couple of strides. VALTOI saved ground at all the fences, made a bold bid going to the next to the last fence, but failed to rally thereafter. OCCOQUAN displayed good speed and jumped nicely for a mile and one-half, then tired. TROYER tired in the last mile. FIVE OCLOCK was unable to stay when put to a hard drive. WEDDING RING broke swiftly, d.splaved good speed to shake oil BLAKEEN, came wide during the stretch drive and laltered approaching the end. V1TOX improved ins position steadily and came willinglv under a hard drive at the close. JUSTA FLIGHT went fonvardly placed and had no excuses. BLAKEEN forced a steadv pare for five eighths, then tired. STAR QLEEN lost ground most ot the trip and tould not menace. CORA KAY was on" the outside all the way. SINGING HEART, nicely handled and kept within striking distance of the leaders, came willingly when shaken up and, closing strongly during the final drive, was up in the last fifty yards. CRUISING raced LITTLE ARGO and AROUSED into submission in the first five eighths, saved ground but could not withstand the winner. LITTLE ARGO had good speed to maintain a forward position and continued gamely under punishment for the closing test. AROUSED moved up strongly midway of the turn, but failed to rally in the finjl issue. POCKET PIECE could not reach a forward position while saving ground. MORE-TIDE was held safe all the way. BABY TALK, permitted to reach his best stride before moving into contention, moved up hsl leaving the back stretch, came determinedly in the closing drive and was up in the last twenty yards. JEAN BART, interfered with by KNIGHT WARRIOR and ANEROID when the start came, was sloughed again at the first turn, but managed to gain the lead entering the back stretch. He went into an easy lead, saved ground, but tired right at the close. KNIGHT WARRIOR fell far out of contention after being bothered at the break, then closed a good gap when in full stride. ANEROID swerved to the inside when the start came 1 -nd " struck KNIGHT WARRIOR, which in turn hit JEAN BART. He raced forwardly for three quarters, then tired. ROSSELLI raced evenly. DARK HOPE, in tight quarters going to the first turn, obtained racing room on the inside when reaching the back stretch, worked his way to the leaders steadily to take command nearing the stretch, opened up a winning lead, but had to be shaken up in the last eighth to withstand GOOD GOODS. The latter, as usual, slow to gain his best stride, circled the field when bettering his position and finished determinedly. GALLANT MAC raced close up from the beginning, responded when put to a drive and held on with good courage. CYCLE showed good speed while setting the pace, but tired steadily after being over-hauled. MANTAGNA was placed nicely in the eaily raring, but failed to rally when put to severe pressure. THURSDAY could not reach contention. STAND PAT began tiring after going three-quarters. HARD CHASE was r.itod in front after going to the front at the first turn, shook otf RONFALON, but tould not withstand the winner under strong urging. RONFALON forced a steady pace while in pursuit of HARD CHASE, but tired when the real issue came. EGEON closed a good gap. JAMUL was well placed, but failed to threaten when put to a drive. The latter swung to the outside when improing his position in the hst five sixteenths and finished gamely. TULEYRIES WAND held on willinglv after going forwardly in the early running. IRISH VOTE closed stoutly from a slow beginning. BENDER FIRST saved ground all the way. but lacked his closing rush. MORE PEP tired in the last half mile. IDLE FLIRT quit badly when called upon.
