| GRANVILLE AND OTHERS | | IN PREAKNESS TRIALS j BALTIMORE, Md., May 9.— The Belair Studs Granville displayed good form in working a mile in 1:42 at Pimlico this morning in preparation for his engagement next Saturday in the Preakness Stakes. Under the direction of George Tappen, the son of Gallant Fox was well rated and went the opening quarter in :24, the half mile in :48% and the three-quarters in 1:15, finishing the trial in handy fashion. Teufel, winner of the Wood Memorial Stakes for the Wheatley Stable but a disappointment in the Kentucky Derby, also was called upon for speed by trainer Tappen, and the son of Diavolo went a mile and a furlong, for which he was timed in 1:57%. He went the opening quarter in :23%, after which he was taken under strong restraint and did the half mile in :48%, six furlongs in 1:17 and the mile in 1:45%. Bright Light, Preakness eligible in the Shannon Farm Stable, was sent over the mile and a quarter distance by trainer J. J. Greely and did the route in 2:11 handily. He was held at an even pace, his fractions being :25, :50%, 1:17%, 1:44% and 1:57% for the mile and a furlong. Tappen said that he expected the Wheat-ley Stables Snark to be shipped here from Aqueduct to run in the Preakness. Snark was entered in a race here for Monday, but the event failed to fill.
