OLD COMRADE was slow to settle into his stride, moved up fast on the outside after passing the five-eighths post, raced to the front when called upon and drew out fast in the last three-sixteenths. BALAPIN worked his way up gradually, saved ground and closed with good courage. BLACK TOREADOR showed a smart effort, trailed his field until reaching the stretch and then closed with a rush in the last three-sixteenths. BEAU THOR, well placed, moved up on the outside nearing the far turn, then faltered in the last quarter. BABY WRACK raced evenly throughout. MIXWELL had good speed for three-quarters. MELODY MAID raced well for five-eighths. FAGOT displayed good speed in pacemaking, then quit to a walk through the stretch. SECOND RACE 5-and MILE. Ste. Louise, July 25, 1935 :59 2 104. PANTHER CREEK, away fast, showed the way while racing slightly restrained, withstood a bold bid from MARFEU when rearing the stretch, opened up a good load and, hard ridden at the end, just lasted. MOLASSES BOB, outrun early, closed with a rush on the inside through the stretch and would probably have been the winner in a few more strides. HOLLUSCHICKIE moved up steadily on the outside and closed with good energy. SCOTCH BOY could never reach the leaders, but passed tiring horses through the stretch. ROLLICKER was never able to reach the leaders. MOONBURN forced the early pace, but faltered badly in the last quarter mile. OSMUCK was never a threat. MISS SUBWAY was steadied along under restraint back of the pace, moved up on the outside and, closing with goon energy through the stretch, drew out steadily in the last sixteenth. PAUL JUNIOR responded gamely when called upon and finished with good courage. PARVA STELLA was quickest to begin, withstood determined early opposition from SUPREME MAIDEN and TUG BOAT, but tired in the final eighth. TUG BOAT moved up with a rush on the outside nearing the stretch and was unable to improve, his position in the closing drive. BERNARDINE W. was shuffled hack soon after the start and closed some ground. TRUJILLO was outrun. GOLD CLIP tired. SUPREME MAIDEN showed good speed for three-eighths. OUT BOUND, well placed all the way, moved up steadily and, wearing down CYNWYD when nearing the stretch, held AMERICAN PRINCE safe under punishment. AMERICAN PRINCE was steadied along back of the pace, responded willingly to hard urging and closed stoutly through the stretch. CYNWYD wpre down FORTUNATE YOUTH fortho lead after going a half mile and, though making a came effort to go along with the leaders when challenged, was not good enough. LADY HOCKBERGER went into the air at the start, worked her way up steadily, but was unable to reach the leaders. FORTUNATE YOUTH had good early speed, but faltered after leaving the back stretch. SCOTCH PEPPER was away slowly and was outrun throughout. GENERAL FARLEY could not threaten. Overweight Yap, 2 pounds. FIFTH RACE 5-8 MILE. Ste. Louise, July 25, 1935 :59 2 104. ROCKWOOD, hard ridden, moved up leaving the back stretch and held on willingly under punishment through the stretch run. YODEL dropped back slightly after going the opening eighth,- came to the outside in the stretch and came with good energy. MAEDIC, unable to keep up early, was going willingly at the end. TALKED ABOUT, under hard urging while in nearest pursuit of the winner for almost three-eighths, tired in the stretch run. EARLY SETTLER was far back throughout. HOME LOAN avoided the fast early pace, saved ground in. the stretch and closed determinedly. CANDY MAID moved up stoutly down the back stretch, dropped back but came again nearing the stretch and closed willingly. FICKLE CHANCE loomed up threateningly straightening out in the stretch, though unable to make up any ground when placed under punishment. ALL FORLORN showed keen early speed, disposed of SUN ANTIOCH for the command, only to falter in the last quarter. SUN ANTIOCH tired badly after cutting out the early running. MADWIND worked his way up gradually on the outside down the back stretch, closed stoutly through the stretch and was up inside the last seventy yards to wear down SASSAFRAS. The latter improved his position gradually, raced to the front when EDDIE WRACK tired, drew away into a long lead and, despite holding on well in the stretch drive, was unable to cope with the closing challenge of the winner. FLAXEN came stoutly in the last quarter mile. BULL MARKET, well placed, was unable to improve his position in. the final drive. EDDIE WRACK faltered in the last five-sixteenths. PASS SHOT, a trailer early, began moving up leaving the back stretch, went to the front when straightening out in the stretch and had enough left to hold off the closing bid of MT. HOOD. The latter, as usual slow to begin, came with a rush, drawing on even terms in the last stride. DANCING BOY went to the front with a rush before reaching the stretch, but was unable to keep pace in the closing drive. THATCH was unable to reach the leaders. PEEDEEQUE had early speed, but tired at the far turn. RAMUS was in close quarters when attempting to get through on the inside in the run down the back stretch.
