EXONERATE TRAINER WEAVER Kentucky Racing Commission Finds Trainer Not Guilty in Stimula- " tion of Colt Grey Friar. LATONIA, Ky., June 20 After a hearing today the Kentucky State Racing Commission found trainer J. T. Weaver not guilty in connection with the stimulation of the colt Grey Friar on Saturday, June 13. The suspension of Weaver, ordered by the stewards of the Latonia Jockey Club followed a report that a saliva test of the colt showed traces of strychnine. Weaver filed a protest under Rule No. 68A of the commission permitting a hearing on protest of any action of the stewards. The commission heard a number of witnesses, including Weaver, Dr. W. E. Coover, judge Charles F. Price, presiding steward at Latonia; Dr. J. H. Reister, veterinarian; John Brennen, chemist for the commission, and others. Weaver, Dr. Coover and others testified that Weaver had left the stable early in the day, that the drug charged to have been given would not have been effective for stimulation and that there had not been wagers made. Further inquiry into the facts of the case will be made. Vice-chairman W. E. Smith of the racing commission, owner of Grey Friar, withdrew during the hearing and took no part in the proceedings. He was not at Latonia on the day of the race from which the suspension developed. The commission approved dates from August 8 to September 7 for Dade Park, a total of twenty-six days. The following officials vere approved: Stewards, T. C. Bradley and J. J. Graddy; placing judges, Fred Burton, N. H. McClelland and W. J. Sheeley; secretary, Fred Burton; clerk of scales, N. H. McClelland; starter, George R. Palmer; paddock judge, Dr. I. M. Hendricks; patrol judges, R. W. Coger and A. W. Winters; timer, Olin Johnson. The suspension of T. H. Jolley, accused of fighting with John Carter, trainer on the grounds, was lifted. G. A. Stellings, chairman, and a committee of platers, appeared and requested that only members of the platers association be licensed. Kenneth Noes indefinite suspension given in 1929 was lifted.
