T ROCKINGHAM TURF NOTES Trainer J. V. Stewart has reserved stalls for seven head he is shipping from New York. The shipment is due Thursday morning and will occupy the barn vacated Ed Haughton. Trainer Merle Simmons is laid up at home suffering from pneumonia. The latest additions to the rider colony are apprentices Carroll Bierman and Frankie Collins. Bierman is under contract to Ralph Mcllvain, while Collins is attached to stable of Mrs. Ian Bowie. J. L. Roberts has nominated Mrs. L. Hay-wards Tugboat Frank in many of the stakes to be decided at Bowie next month. The three-year-old Bostonian colt was winner the Revere Handicap earlier in the Rockingham meeting. Jockey D. Dubois arrived from Canada and joined forces with the Lone Star Stable. Ralph Mcllvain is preparing stalls for four additional head he is bringing up from New York. They are expected to arrive Thursday. The news of the death of William A. Ash ton caused deep regret among his many friends at Rockingham Park. Mr. Ashton died at his Baltimore home Wednesday afternoon.
