YES POLLY moved up rapidly after three-eighths to take command and was under strong urging to maintain her advantage, tired slightly in the fnal quarter, but held GOODBYE BLUES safe. The latter, away fast and a sharp factor throughout, offered good contention throughout and was easily best of the others. WAR DIMES, forced to race wide during the opening quarter, moved up stoutly thereafter and, although failing to menace the leaders, held on well. RUBANS CHOICE, forced wide on the First turn, raced evenly thereafter. SHUFFLE OFF tired badly after a half mile and pulled up lame. SPICATE, outrun for three-quarters, began to improve his position on the outside and, under strong riding, wore down LAME DUCK in the final strides. LAME DUCK, buffeted about early, offered a mild challenge after seven-eighths and then tired in the drive. NATALIE ALICE never threatened. KING PIN, much used in the early racing, took a short lead after seven-eighths and then tired, though finishing gamely. SIX BELLS, under steadying restraint for three-quarters, moved up thereafter, offered a strong challenge on the stretch turn and then tired. THEOREM had no mishaps. SIR AJAX, under restraint for three-quarters, moved up stoutly to take a short lead approaching the far turn and then bolted sharply to the outside fence, losing his rider.
