T LONG BRANCH TURF NOTES 1 4 e Horsemen are reminded that entries for the two handicaps to be run at Dufferin Park on opening day, Saturday, October 17, close with racing secretary Pat C Galliger Thursday. The first handicap is at six and one-half furlongs for horses of all ages and the other is for three-year-olds and upward at one mile and a sixteenth. Gingery, which was recenUy purchased by G. C. Ellis, broke loose from his stall and "galloped off several miles Wednesday morning. He was uninjured. For the first six days of the meeting jockey Frank Dougherty led the list of riders in the amount of money earned. Pat Remillard was second, Herb Lindberg third and Frank Madeley fourth. The apprentice allowance was waived on Ree in the second race Wednesday and the filly picked up five additional pounds to make her weight 10C pounds. J. Kirkpatrick will have Maetico fired and turned out for the winter. Racing secretary Pat C. Galliger will depart for Sportsmans Park, Chicago, when he has completed his duties at Dufferin Park. Jockey Herb Lindberg altered his plans to depart for his home in Philadelphia on Wednesday morning and was seen in silks during the afternoon.
