1 BAY MEADOWS NOTES f and D. E. Foster was an arrival with Little Argo and Calanta, while W. E. Zeigler checked in at Tanforan with three head. Always anxious to present the best horses available at Bay Meadows, racing secretary M. H. Morrison, has arranged a race for Saturday, April 2, which will bring together the best of the three-year-old division in a test of one mile. This will serve as a preliminary for the ,000 added California Derby to be run Saturday, April 9. The preliminary will be a condition affair for a purse of ,000 in. which the starters will carry 117 pounds, with allowances scaling up to ten pounds for non-winners this year. Jockey R. "Bob" Mozer is an arrival from Hot Springs, and will probably remain in this region for the rest of the racing season. Lighter than usual the veteran pilot can scale as light as 104 pounds. Arga, a handsome son of War Cry and Princess Arvol, was the first representative which John Marchbank had to carry his colors at Bay Meadows, since the current meeting got under way. Maury Diggs, well-known architect is an arrival from his home at Los Angeles. The race track builder plans to remain about a week before returning to the Southern part of the state. Diggs drafted the plans for the Bay Meadows course, also those, which are being completed at the Inglewood track of the Hollywood Turf Club.
