1 LEXINGTON TURF NOTES I 4 $ An interested visitor Thursday morning was Thomas D. Taggart, owner of the French Lick Springs Stable, who came out to inspect Marica, winner of several stakes for him last season. He has been the guest of Howard Oots for the past few days. Condition books for the meeting made their appearance and were eagerly sought by horsemen. Although the minimur . purse is 00 only eight events at that value have been carded, the others ranging from 00 to ,200. Charles Van Meter, who has about recovered from the injuries he received when struck by an automobile last fall, was a visitor at Churchill Downs Thursday. He came from Lexington to inspect the stables which will house his horses when they arrive here at the close of the Keeneland meeting. Van Meter, who trained Chatterton and many other good horses, has nine head, a majority of which are two-year-olds, at Keeneland. Flying Bennett, a two-year-old daughter of Flying Heels Dangertude which L J. Collins recently purchased from Edwin Thomas, arrived from the Thomas farm Thursday and was turned over to Carter Everett to train.
