j TROPICAL PARK TURF NOfEs The filly, Baby League, owned by E. R. Bradley, which went amiss in her most recent race at Tropical Park, is reported to be improving slowly from a badly swollen ankle. Charles Grande will transfer five horses in his charge to Suffolk Downs, at the close of the Tropical Park meeting. Grande also, plans to race at Agawam Park. Condition books for the nineteen-day meeting of the Metropolitan Jockey Club were distributed to horsemen in Florida at Tropical Park Wednesday. The Metropolitan Jockey Club session inaugurates the 1938 season at Jamaica Saturday, April 16. George Burke, who came here for a visit following the meeting at Santa Anita Park in California, has returned to Maryland and will have the engagement books of jockeys Raymond Workman, Johnny Gilbert and apprentice J. Bailey at Bowie. Horsemen are advised that nominations for the Breeders Stakes, one of the most important events decided in Canada annually, closes Friday, April 1. The breeders stake carries a purse of ,000 added and is run during the spring meeting of the Ontario Jockey Club at Woodbine -Park, Toronto. Jockey J. Dobson, who rode in Havana during the meeting of the International Jockey Club, accepted his first local mount when he rode Son Richard for H. H. Brown, in the eighth race Wednesday. At private terms, Phil Bieber purchased the three-year-old Katchican from B. Lewin. The transaction took place at Tropical Park.
