LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 6 Adorned wi.h its usual attractive cover, the program boo for the first eight days of the Churchill Downs meeting of twenty-two days starting Saturday, April 30, is ready .for horsemen throughout the country. Besides the conditions for the overnight races during the period it covers, the book includes a wealth of information and data, as well as nominations for all of the nine stakes and handicaps to be offered here this spring. As has been done for a number of years, a picture of the last Kentucky Derby winner in this case War Admiral appears on the front cover of the book, while a cut of Aristides, winner of the first Derby back in 1875, graces the back cover. War Admirals likeness is surrounded by a border in the black and yellow, colors of his owner, Samuel D. Riddle. The picture, - showing jockey Charles Kurtsinger astride the noble son of Man o War, was made during the presentation ceremony following his triumph. The conditions as prepared by racing secretary William H. Shelley, one of the countrys foremost racing officials and connected with Churchill Downs for many years, provide opportunities for horses of all classes to compete for the overnight purses, none of which will be under 00. While it sometimes is difficult to secure ample material for a high percentage of distance races early in the spring, secretary Shelley evidently believes there will not be a shortage of such horses here, as the program carries numerous races of this character. It also provides a fair number of opportunities for sprinters while taking care of requirements for juveniles. Conditions to cover the final fourteen days of the meeting will be released in two instalments of seven days each.
