I LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES $ Ed Trotter, veteran horseman, is shipping the horses of Mrs. Val Crane to New York next Sunday. The stable has been at Douglas Park all winter. The horses which Frank P. Letellier, of New Orleans, raced at Oaklawn Park arrived here and were added to the string which former jockey Joe Kederis has had at Churchill Downs for the Louisiana turfman. Those which came from Hot Springs were Southland Beau, Chubbins, Squaw Lady, Powers Gouraud, Button B., Plucky Byrd, Plying Doll, Chief Menteur and Yetive. He brought the latter here for A. Zimmer, while Plucky Byrd is the property of J. W. Bell. The several horses which Sherrill War.d will race at Keeneland will be vanned there and returned immediately after their engagements. Ward has one of the largest stables at Churchill Downs, having shipped the string here a few days ago from winter quarters at Columbia, S. C. The horses of R. S. Byrum, Indiana turfman, left Wednesday for River Downs to await the opening of the meeting at the Cincinnati track. Tommy Oliphant, racing official, is busy making his annual spring check of racing material at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park and will be leaving soon for Keener land. Lee Niles has taken up the horse Crimson, owned by Mrs. Ann McKinney, which has been turned out for the winter at Charles Blacks Silver Lake Farm in the Blue Grass section. Jack Hodgins is receiving several additions to the stable he has at Churchill Downs for A. Pelleteri and M. L. Emerich. Two of them, coming from Lexington, are Rye Beach -and Mower. Linus Pierce, one of William Hamiltons assistants, arrived from Hot Springs, wheve he worked under Reuben White and will aid in the schooling here. Starter Hamilton is going to Lexington but may return here for a few days before the Keeneland meeting opens at which he will do the starting. Frank Swain is preparing the veterans Otherwise and Just Buck, for the coming season. The horses are at Churchill Downs
