SMITH INSPECTS HORSES SAN MATEO, Calif., April 18. Trainer Tom Smith made a trip to the C. S. Howard ranch at Ridgewood to inspect the stock there before he assembles the string he will take east for a summer campaign. It is probable Smith will have two carloads when he leaves Tanforan for Belmont Park.
