STAR STRUCK began swiftly, shook off FLYING CAR nearing the stretch and drew into a clear lead, but had to be shaken up strongly in the final eighth. FICTITIOUS was a prominent contender from the beginning and closed willingly under steady pressure. WAR MOON, slow to settle into his stride, bettered his position gradually when in full stride. FLYING CAR displayed much early speed, and was not persevered with in the late stages. GEODESIAN showed a good effort. MACIE MARGARET raced evenly, though greenly. FIRST FLING raced wide. GOLDEN VEIN, saving ground in the early racing while going well placed, swung around the leaders nearing the stretch, moved to the front readily and came out swiftly at the end. EARLY TIMES followed in close pursuit of FAST EXPRESS, challenged stoutly entering the stretch and held on well to the end. FAST EXPRESS displayed good speed from the start and saved ground, but tired in the final eighth. SHEKNOWS, caught in close quarters after the start, bettered her position gradually when clear. KHAY performed in good style. ROWES CRUMP, beginning sluggishly, closed full of run on the outside in the last quarter mile. PATCHPOCKET could not reach contention. FRENCH TRAP showed early speed. VESTALE, rated back of the leaders for three-quarters, challenged strongly nearing the final turn, took command entering the stretch and continued strongly to withstand TURKISH BRAND. The latter, beginning very slowly, rallied when placed to a hard drive and closed courageously when taken around his company. LITTLE TRAMP, poorly ridden, was permitted to drop far out of contention early, was bothered midway of the final turn when driving through on the inside, found racing room in the stretch and closed gamely. SOUGHT AFTER sprinted into a clear lead and saved ground, but flattened out when caught. BAY STOUT had no mishaps. MINSTREL STAR, bore out from the start and its rider was of little help. MY ELSIE was kept on the inside, raced forwardly and came determinedly to outstay POSTAGE DUE. The latter showed good speed for five-eighths, then tired when caught. PARMELEE T. was strongly ridden going to the first turn to take the lead, opened up a wide lead I midway of the back stretch, was inclined to bear out in the last five-sixteenths and had to be struck across the head several limes to keep him at his task while holding YELLOW TULIP safe in the final eighth. YELLOW TULIP raced closest to the winner from the start, made a stout effort entering the stretch when driving up on the inside, but was held safe approaching the finish. GIANT KILLER was kept under steady pressure all the way and was easily best of the others. SUN POWER could not untrack himself in the footing. MOSAWTRE was always far back. MARIATO, slow to settle into his stride, gained fast in the last half mile and was wearing the winner down rapidly after making a wide turn into the stretch. ITSIE BITSIE moved Iear midway of the back stretch, shook off TZIGANE, but failed to stay when challenged. TZIGANE was strongly handled while racing prominently, but was not good enough. OPOCA was well up for seven-eighths, then tired. JUDGE HASTEN was never a factor. JAMES BOY was placed on the outside for the start and was never dangerous. JUSTA GAL raced poorly. The latter, eased back out of tight quarters while racing on the inside, responded when shaken up and finished wearing the winner down while next to the rail. INFILEE, away sluggishly, circled her field and finished with good speed. LADINO, away poorly, closed a big gap. TIEMPO stood flatfooted when the start came, was sent after her field and made up some ground. BABWRACK was unable to threaten. MISS PECAN tired after making a strong bid on the final turn. RESURRECTION tired, as did CHIEF EVERGREEN. HAPPY ROAD was away poorly. LUKE PHANTOM slipped and fell at the turn out of the back stretch.
