PRIDE AND JOY, rushed. into a long lead soon after the start, held his advantage to the end and won by a wide margin. DORIS ELE, always closest to the winner, finished gamely in the run home, although no match for the winner. EARLE P. broke in front, then dropped back in the first sixteenth, was forced to race on the outside rounding the turn and was going gamely at the end. MADAM LUCY, never far back, closed with courage on the inside through the stretch. FAST TRAILS, in very close quarters for the first quarter mile, dropped back entering the turn, then came again entering the stretch, but was unable to get up. BONSALL, closely rated back of the early pacemaker WESTERN BOSS, moved up when ready on the Inside entering the stretch and, under slight urging through the final eighth, came on to win going away. The latter took command soon after the start, set the pace to the stretch, then tired in the final drive when the winner challenged and was lucky to save second place. RARE TREE was forced to race on the extreme outside all the way, came fast rounding the turn, then had to drop back slightly entering the stretch, came again in the final sixteenth and was going strongly at the end. JILLION had no excuses and was going gamely in the stretch drive. MY REGARDS raced evenly throughout. FOUR ACES showed some speed for the first half mile, then tired. SUN PETAL took command soon after the break, drew out to a good lead in the back stretch and had to be hustled .along in the final stages to stall .off the closing rush of ELSTREE. The latter, slow to get into stride, closed steadily on the outside of the field rounding the far turn, then raced up on the outside of the winner in the final seventy1 yards, but was unable to head the latter in the final drive. LUCKY GEORGE, a contender from the start, was, forced to. take up for lack of racing room entering the far turn, then came again when clear in the stretch to finish strongly. BEGINNERS BAIT, although racing with good courage throughout, was never able to menace- the leaders. COLD SOUTH forced the . pace to the stretch, then tired. GRAVEN IMAGE, rushed into the lead in the first seventy yards, drew out to a safe lead and, continuing gamely, won as her rider pleased. VELOZ, always a contending factor, raced on the outside of the leaders to midway of the stretch and, under a drive, outgamcd JACK BE NIMBLE in the closing drive. The latter, well up from the start, raced closest to the winner to the stretch, then tired in the final drive. EIGHT BALL raced gamely all the way, but was never able to reach the leaders. BUD BROOM, outrun for the first half mile, moved up with a rush rounding the far turn, wore down the leaders in the stretch and, under a hard drive in the final seventy yards, got up in the last Stride to win narrowly. HURTLE, always close to the pacemakers, forged to the front midway of the stretch, but was unable to hold the winner in the closing strides and narrowly missed. AURIFEROUS, far back for the first half mile, closed steadily rounding the far turn on the outside, came with a rush in the final eighth and would have won in a. few more strides. SHABONEE closed a big gap in the last eighth and was going strongly at the end. JUDGE LEWE forced the pace for the first half mile, then took the lead on the far turn, but tired in the stretch drive. Won easily; second and third driving. FAITHFUL MAUD, closer up than usual for the first quarter, saved ground on the inside rail rounding the turn and, getting through when the leaders swung slightly wide entering the stretch, came on to win going away at the finish. SIR RIDGWAY, slow to get into stride, moved up with a rush between horses on the turn and, getting through all the way, Finished fast in the final drive, but was no match for the winner, although much the best of the others. INDIANTOWN forced the pace for the first quarter mile, showed in front by a short head midway of the turn, then tired when the real racing began In the stretch. BOSS MARTIN, very slow to get going, tried to get through between horses entering the turn, had to take back momentarily for lack of racing room and came fast in the final eighth, but was unable td get up. WHA HAE took command soon after the break, set the pace by a narrow margin for the first quarter, then tired in the stretch run. MR. BLAZE showed some speed for the first half mile, then quit. OUR CROWN raced to the front in the first seventy yards, drew out to a good lead in the first quarter, held his advantage to midway of the stretch, then had to be shaken up a bit and came on to win in handy fashion. PORLEZZA, slow to get going, moved up fast on the outside of the field in the back stretch, continued gamely to rush up to the leaders entering the stretch and made a game bid for the lead at the . eighth-post, but was not good enough, finishing gamely in the run home. RICHLEIN came from far back in. the final eighth, slipped through in the stretch and, under a hard drive,, finished strongly. DOUBLE BRUSH showed good early, speed, dropped back entering the far turn,- then came again in the stretch to finish gamely. PATRINGTON also showed speed for a half mile. RED CANOE, a forward factor from the start, was a tiring third. SIMON, in close quarters for most of the trip, finished strongly in the final drive when clear. TUMBLE IN saved ground on the rail all the way and was never able to menace the leaders. PIMA ROSE showed good speed for the first quarter mile, then quit. The others were always outrun.
