ICY WIND, displaced after leaving the back stretch, remained xlose to the pace and withstood a severe drive willingly to outlast APPREHEND The latter, rated close to the leaders while racing on the outside, responded stoutly to take .command midway of the home stretch, but hung under his weight at the finish. DIZZY DAME, settling into stride slowly, swung to the outside and finished full of run. BROADSTEP was -used up getting to the front and faltered approaching the finish. POMPEIUS came with a belated rush in the closing drive. PATCHPOCKET bettered his position gradually and was gaining slowly nearing the finish. WESTBROOKE could not threaten. TIME SIGNAL, racing in his best form, displaced WISE SISTER, when reaching the turn and opened up a long lead, then was steadied to the finish. AGLOW was close, up from, the beginning and came with good courage in thefinal test. BILLY MOLE, racing forwardly throughout, held on well while saving ground to outstay WISE SISTER. The latter was hard ridden all the way and held on gamely. SACHEM was sent wide when making his run and failed to threaten. SANDSTONE raced well. AMERICA FIRST was outrun. THIRD RACE 1 1-8 MILES. EUDES followed in near pursuit of PRINCE PETTIE, assumed command without effort when put to a drive, lost ground entering the home stretch, but held on stoutly to withstand BABWRACK. The latter, beginning slowly, worked his way up steadily and Finished courageously. SAIDONA moved up steadily after going a half mile and was catching the leaders at the finish. DURWRACK dropped far out of contention, then circled his field to close an immense gap. PARAVANT went to the pacemaker readily at the far turn, but flattened out in the stretch run. GOLDEN X. was in a bad jam midway of the home stretch and dropped back. SECRET VOTE failed to menace. PRINCE PETTIE quit when the real test came. JUSTA FLIGHT had no mishaps. SLEEK tired badly. CORINTO, taken to the outside when straightened into the back stretch, engaged the leaders midway of the final turn, went to the front readily at the stretch turn and drew out swiftly in the final eighth. GIANT KILLER, lacking speed to be prominent early, gained fast in the last five-sixteenths, but could not reach the winner. PARMELEE T. displayed good speed while setting the pace, saved ground and held on gamely. Continued on fourteenth page. HAVRE DE GRACE Continued from third page. KENTY was a strong factor for seven-eighths, but tired. CONQUER, rated close to the early pacemaker, challenged boldly at the final turn, but tired in the last eighth when impeded by KENTY. BOURBON KING, rated back of the leaders for three-quarters, moved up stoutly at the turn out of the back stretch to engage the pacemaker, assumed command at the stretch turn and rallied to a hard drive to outstay MYTHICAL KING. The latter went into contention with a rush and held on stubbornly. BLIND EAGLE improved his position when placed to a drive, slipped through on the inside at the stretch turn and finished courageously. STORMSCUD, timidly ridden, was cased back when settled on the back stretch, was taken to the outside for racing room in the last five-sixteenths and closed stoutly after meeting with interference making the turn for home. SUN EGRET was unable to get clear while setting the pace, but saved ground though tiring in the last three-eighths. THANKSGIVING was hard ridden and had no excuse. BROWN MOTH was outrun. INFILEE, prominently placed from the beginning, challenged strongly rounding the final turn, but was. no match for the winner in the closing test. A. OCONNELL, steadied for three-quarters, closed willingly under strong urging. BOGERTIN failed to threaten at any time. JIM JOHN was rated in front, but failed to stay when caught. SWAHILI, fractious at the post, was rushed into contention at once and steadied off the pace of VICAR, responded gamely when called upon and was up in the final strides. VICAR, hustled into command immediately, was steadied in the lead thereafter, saved ground on the inside and just failed to last. TRINA, slow to settle into stride, gradually bettered her position, but dropped back on the final turn, then came again and finished fastest of all. NEW DEAL, fractious at the post, lacked early speed, but finished courageously. WINNING CHANCE, -forwardly placed early, quit at the finish. CHALLENGE CUP quit. The others were never prominent.
