JOIN US, a forward factor from the start, saved ground, but could not menace the winner. BE QUAINT closed ground steadily on the inside from a slow beginning. FLYING WILD was outrun to the stretch turn, but made up ground. FLYING ARIEL had no mishaps. SPILLWAY was close up early, but could not improve his position when urged. SUBSTANTIAL was eased back after the start and, in close quarters, was taken to the outside rounding the stretch turn, but closed some ground. CROSS QUESTION, well up in the early stages, faltered slightly in the stretch run. HEATHER BROOM showed a flash of early speed. EPWAR could not keep up. THE GREAT closed ground. The latter moved up with determination on the outside rounding the stretch turn, but faltered in the final seventy yards. COUNT DOR was in close quarters at the far turn, but closed some ground. ROSEMAIN showed speed from the start, responded to urging in the stretch and held on well under pressure to outlast KATE SMITH. The latter, fractious at the pest, improved her position steadily and Finished with a rush. JOHNSTOWN, away well, raced greenly and could not improve his position when urged. MISS DIGNITY, in nearest pursuit of the pace from the start, responded in the stretch when urged and came again at the finish. SILVER FLEECE saved ground all the way. MORE PEP swerved repeatedly under pressure. SQUEEZER was kept under pressure on the back stretch and moved up fast rounding the far turn, but suffered interference when MORE PEP came to the outside at the eighth post.
