A. C. C0MPT0N BOWIE LEADER Sun Egret Accounts for Two Stakes and Money Honors. Jockey Charley Corbett Pilots Fifteen Winners Bedwell-rellcteri Share Training Honors. Bowie, as is the usual custom, opened another eastern racing season on April 1 and drew an exceptionally large crowd into the grounds. The Bowie Kindergarten Stakes was the opening feature and sent the meeting off to a good start. During the twelve days of racing 0,285 was distributed, for a daily average of ,440.42. Four stakes were decided. A. C. Compton, chiefly through the prowess of Sun Egret, which won the Rowe Memorial and Bowie Spring handicaps, was the leading money-winning owner, and Sun Egret took equine honors in that department. Charley Corbett easily outshone his rival riders, with fifteen winning mounts, for a percentage of .38. H. Guy Bedwell, who trains the Compton string, was the leading trainer, but had to share honors with A. Pelleteri, both of them saddling seven winners.
