VANSCOUT sprinted into a good lead early, responded to strong urging when challenged in the stretch and won with something to spare. JAY HEART, hustled along from the start, tired after offering a bold bid nearing the final eighth. PEGGYS SUN, lucky to find racing room when improving his position, finished strongly. HOLTON, shuffled back soon after the start, worked his way up and finished strongly. DONGY raced on the inside and tired. LITTLE PINKEY was forced wide,nearjngthe stretch and showed nothing thereafter. ED failed to keep up. GABLE, in close quarters early and forced to lose ground when clear, was put to strong pressure , when straightened in the stretch, bore over on DON ROMIRO when wearing down the leaders and won draw- t ing away. POLLY HASTINGS, hustled from the start and on the outside, forged to the front nearing the final eighth, but was unable to withstand the winner. DON ROMIRO, in close quarters throughout, was shuffled back when improving his position in the drive, but came again when clear. ASSIST, outrun for a half mile, closed with a rush. MATURE showed a good effort. LUCKY STAR began from the outside and finished well. GOLD FLAG, racing in his best form and steadied when outrun, moved up when called upon, Wore down -. PANIC RELIEF when sent to the outside in the drife and won going away. ARMOR BEARER, away fastest of all but unable to hold the lead, was in close quarters nearing the far turn, raced forward rapidly when clear, but was no match for the winner. WINDSHIELD, never far back and on the outside, finished strongly. PANIC RELIEF sprinted into a long lead, set a fast pace to the stretch, but tired rapidly thereafter. MISS SAXON made up ground in the drive. ALICE HIGHLAND was outrun. DOCTOR TIM showed early speed. PRENNY dropped back after going five-sixteenths. Scratched Florence M., 110. THIRD DEGREE, slow to begin, moved up fast when in stride and responded to strong handling after reaching the stretch to wear down LIKLY LAD inside the final eighth and won drawing- away. LIKLY LAD took command at once, established a clear lead during the opening sixteenth, but gave way when challenged though holding on well. BATTER, hustled from the start, tired in the last stages. EPIDO displayed a fine burst of speed from the start, but bore out badly approaching the stretch. BLUE FANG had no mishaps. COUNORA raced greenly. The others showed nothing. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE. COUNSUELLO sprinted into a clear lead early, set a fast pace and increased her margin when shaken up in the stretch, and won easily. BEACH ENSEMBLE, a strong factor from the start, failed to menace the winner but held the others safe. MARCHING FEET, in close quarters early, was forced to lose ground when racing forward and finished well. MARK HELLINGER, outrun for a half mile, and on the outside, closed with a rush. BALL-O-FIRE tired. IMPERIAL JONES was unable to keep up. IMPERIAL SCOUT raced on the inside in the stretch. WARBRIDGE began slowly and failed to improve his position under strong urging. OLD NASSAU, a strong factor from the start, was hustled into contention nearing the final quarter and responded well when wearing down BOADWAY, but f ailed to withstand the winner. GALSUN improved his position rapidly after going three-eighths, was forced wide at the stretch turn, but came fast when straightened and finished well. BROADWAY, used up in the pace, quit under pressure. MOUNTAIN RIDGE took command rounding, the lower turn, but gave way when challenged and failed to respond to pressure ia the drive. CORNER BOY, fractious at the post and bearing in when the start came, was taken up sharply to move around his field, improved his position rapidly when straightened on the back stretch, reached the front when straightened in the stretch and continued gamely to hold PALCO safe. The latter, never far out of it and hard hustled throughout, showed a good effort. BULLDOZER, rated close to the pace for a half mile, took command with a rush, but tired under extreme pressure. REAL ONE was unable to keep up. RED ROGUE bore out badly at the first turn and lost much ground. CARNELIAN forced the early pace, but tired. OVERPLAY quit badly. Corrected weigh Overplay, 113. POTTAGE, rated close to the pace for three-quarters, responded readily to strenuous urging thereafter, assumed a clear lead and outstayed FAIREST FLAG. The latter worked her way up between horses, came to the outside in the final quarter and closed strongly. FOR ROMANCE, hard hustled throughout, showed a good effort and held on well in the drive. NOGALO, well up to the final eighth, tired thereafter. DARK MIST, away slowly and far out of it for five-eighths, improved her position steadily thereafter and closed strongly. ENTREE showed brief early speed. LADY DEDLOCK broke slowly and was never a factor. Overweight Winifred West, 1 pound.
