U. S. 400 -MILE AIR FORCE WASHINGTON, D. C, April 4. Secret plans for the construction of a 400-mile an hour air force, the speediest, hardest-hitting air armada in the world, were revealed today by the War Department as President Roosevelt signed the new air expansion bill. Acting Secretary of War Louis Johnson ordered the air corps procurement program thrown into high gear to give the army a fleet of six thousand fighting planes provided in the army bill within the next twenty-four months.
