TO TRANSFER MEMORIAL DAY Bay Meadows to Relinquish Holiday to Hollywood Park Deal Awaits the Approval of Commission. SAN BRUNO, Calif., April 4. William P. Kyne, general manager of Bay Meadows, has outlined plans for his coming spring meeting, which opens April 26. While the deal has not as yet been closed it is almost certain that he will sell the last day of his meeting, Memorial Day, to Hollywood Park and that he will stage one day of racing for charity, leaving twenty-three days from which he and his stockholders hope to derive a profit through racing. The California Horse Racing Board has approved the transfer of the Memorial Day date from Bay Meadows to Hollywood Park and the switch should prove beneficial to both tracks. With a two-day interval from his closing Saturday until Memorial Day and with Hollywood Park opening one day later, Kyne could scarcely have induced enough horsemen to remain over to fill a good racing bill, whereas the majority will probably stay until the closing Saturday, after which they will have two days in which to ship to Hollywood Park for the opening. Kyne intimated that he was getting a pretty good deal from the Hollywood Park management. He will be guaranteed 0,000 and a percentage of the profits on all over a 00,000 handle. With good weather and having the first holiday of summer for an opening, Hollywood Park will likely handle 00,000, and may go to ,000,000 on Memorial Day.
