300,000 MINERS STRIKE NEW YORK, N. Y., April 4 More than 300,000 miners in the Appalachian coal area remained away from work Monday, pending completion of negotiations for a new contract. The halting of work was in line with the traditional rule of the United Mine Workers of America "no contract, no work."
