1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES I 4 s W. C. Hobson checked in at Douglas Park with the horses Trysak, Brown Comet and Shine o Might. They came from Nashville. The two horses which Sam McPherson brought from the New Orleans Fair Grounds were Chanting and Red Garter. They are quartered at Douglas Park. C. Hyde Smith, former trainer of the Oddesa Farm stable, which has been dispersed, made application for stalls at Churchill Downs. The request was forwarded from Florida. A. C. Dettwiler, who is training the Derby candidate, Xalapa Clown, and other horses for Mrs. Bessie Franzheim, is considering vanning several horses to Keeneland for engagements. The horses which Kenneth Pitt brought In from the New Orleans Fair Grounds were Lynxholm, Demanding and Hour Size. Jockey Willie Lee Johnson stopped off at his home in Philpot, Ky., for a visit with relatives before coming to Churchill Downs to report to O. Clelland, trainer of the horses of Mrs. R. J. Murphy. Jack Hanover, who trains the horses owned jointly by Hyman Friedberg and Edwin Axton of Louisville, plans to transfer eight of his charges to Keeneland for the meeting there. Hanover is taking Manie OHara, Montsin, Bala Ormont and Isolene among the older horses, and four two-year-olds. I. J. Collins has made reservations for twelve horses now at Hot Springs. They will be transferred here by trainer Al Miller and will join a division of the stable already at Douglas Park under Carter Everett. The stable is headed by the handicap horse, Bernard F., an eligible for the Clark Handicap. Bernard F. may be sent on to Lexington to fill engagements in the Phoenix and Ben Ali Handicaps. Harry Saladin, who is without horses at this time, arrived from New Orleans. Before leaving the Crescent City he sold Brilliant One to E. K. Bryson and Unrequited to W. Rodriguez. Unrequited has been sent to Panama. Odie Clelland, trainer of tbe horses of Mrs. R. J. Murphy, plans to send several horses, including Knee Deep and Lucy to Lexington for engagements at Keeneland. J. B. Respess, Erlanger, Ky., owner and breeder, made another visit to Louisville to inspect the horses he "has at Churchill Downs.
