TO INVESTIGATE WPA WASHINGTON, D. C, April 4 A twelve-man committee to investigate the W. P. A., first inquiry into the federal relief system since it was launched on a huge scale six years ago, was named today by Chairman Taylor, Democrat, of Colorado, of the House appropriations committee. Chairman Taylor said that his selection of members for the investigating committee was assurance to the nation that- the W. P. A. inquiry would not be "white-washed." At the same time- he assigned the handling of the investigation to Representative Clifton Woodrum, the Virginia Democrat who has engineered the slashes in W. P. A. appropriations this year. Taylor said that he himself would be the nominal chairman of the committee, but that he would act only in a supervisory capacity, leaving the actual conduct of the inquiry to Woodrum.
