NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES Immediately upon receipt of the condition book for the first ten days of the Narra-gansett spring meeting, Mrs. Emil Dene-mark wired Narragansett Park officials, requesting that five more stalls be allotted to her stable. The Chicago sportswoman had already been assigned stalls for twenty-three horses. The additional allotment indicates the Denemark string of twenty-eight will be one of the most formidable to campaign at the Gansett spring meet; the consignment is due early next week. Mrs. George Clarke, owner of the Rose-dale Stables, visited Narragansett today to look over the quarters allotted his string for the spring meeting. Rosedale Stable will campaign fifteen head and trainer George White is due early next week. Several young riders, new to New England, will make their debut at the local spring meeting. One of the most promising apprentices bound for Fawtucket is Willie Prehm, contract rider for the Blue Ridge Farm stable of Alderman OToole of Chicago. The blue and brown colors of this stable with the big O. T. on front and back, will be familiar to New Englanders before the close of the season. Mrs. Harry Barnett, wife of the Boston sportswoman, came here to visit her favorite, Harp Weaver, top horse of the Barnett Stable. Jack Healy wired from Coral Gables Tuesday to reserve ten stalls for a string he will bring here for the spring meeting. The premature arrival of a carload of horses four days before the date set for the opening of the stables to horsemen, did not catch Narragansett officials entirely unprepared. On less than four hours notice, Jimmy Orrs crew had stalls bedded down and plenty of feed on hand. The early arrivals were well taken care of while preparations went right along to receive the bulk of the shipments due to arrive early next week. The racing silks of the Gillespie Land and Irrigation Co. Stables, white with red sky on back, red sleeves and white cap, will be seen at Narragansett for the first time at the spring meeting. Sammy Weisman, one of the Wests leading apprentice riders, will sport these colors. He is also making his first appearance in the East. This stable is shipping several stake horses to the early meeting. Harvey Campbell is at Goshen, N. Y., to pick up several horses which he will campaign at the local spring meeting. John Brouse, trainer for B. A. Dario, Paw-tucket sportsman, vanned the Dario string, headed by Beach Ensemble, to the Narragansett stables from the Woonsocket farm where they were turned out for the winter. N. L. Pierson, one of the leading riders in California for several years, will ride for Glenn Felkner at the spring meeting here. Sam Orr and his string of ten checked in from New Orleans. Hope Eternal and Orinoco head the Orr stable, which had a very good season at the Fair Grounds this winter.
