Simpson Stable to Race Ten Head at Crete Oval Genl Manager and Weigh Anchor May Compete at Lincoln Fields CRETE, 111., May 8.— Two horses who may be expected to make their presence felt in handicap competition at Lincoln Fields this spring are Genl Manager and Weigh Anchor, both owned by William B. Simpson of Chicago. They are two of ten horses Don Jefferson is bringing here from Louisville in time for the opening of the Lincoln Fields season on May 18. Neither of these two horses has been to the post this year, but both are reported to be training in steady fashion at Churchill Downs and are expected to get back into competition early in the Chicago season. Genl Manager, now a five-year-old, was one of the outstanding handicap performers of the Santa Anita season a year ago. He was able to win only one stake, the San Carlos Handicap, at the Arcadia course, but he finished second to Mioland in three other important features at that track. He was second in each of the 0,000 San Juan Capistrano Handicap, the New Year Handicap and the San Pasqual Handicap. In other notable performances last year, Genl Manager was third in the Bay Meadows Fashion Stakes and third in the Bay Meadows Handicap. Weigh Anchor was on the ailing list most of last year, but the season before raced effectively enough to compile earnings of 0,010. Among his achievements were a victory in the Golden State Derby, a third in the Santa Anita Derby, a second in the Hollywood Derby, and a third in the American Derby. He also finished second in the San Juan Capistrano Handicap and placed in several other important fixtures to stamp himself one of the best three-year-olds of that year. It is probable that Genl Manager will be made eligible for all of the Lincoln Fields stakes, except, of course, the Joliet, which is for two-year-olds. Nominations for these features close on May 15. Other horses trainer Jefferson is bringing to Lincoln Fields for Simpson are Kai-Hi, Elbasan, Harkim, Sky Dog, Bonzar, Take Wing, The Count and The Rage.
