Art of War Easy Winner Of Sportsmans Feature Refund Wagers on Uncle Walter After Horse Is Left at Post * CICERO, 111., May 8 —Everything seemed to happen during the running of the Friday eight-race program. Falls seemed to be the order of the day when three horses took tumbles. Two in the fourth race, Katherine G. and Kilocycle vent down, Katherine G. falling first and Kilocycle falling over her, and one in the feature event. Starlike running all by herself, went down on the back stretch. And then to make matters worse, the starter sent the feature race on its way without Uncle Walter, who was back of the startinp gate. Uncle Walter had no chance and the money wagered on him was refunded. Art of War, the property of Mrs. Monte Weil, annexed the major portion of the Loop Purse, the feature event, b-fore an- 4 other large gathering of turf fans who turned out to witness the program, when he romped home five lengths in front of his closest rival. The four-yeo.r-old son ■*• of Gallant Sir, outrun for the first three-quarters of a mile, moved uo strongly while saving ground rounding the final bend and, with plenty in reserve, came on to win as he pleased. Ear liana, the early pacemaker, lasted to save the place, although tiring. Evil Spirit, voll back in the early stages, closed strongly after reaching the last quarter mile, to get the show. Two homebreds and both sired by the same stallion. Infinity, finished in the first dead heat for first money in the third event. Dandy Maiden, slow to settle into stride, would have won by herself had she not been interfered with near the end, when the early pacemaker, Perhobo, bore out while tiring, but the photo-finish camera showed that she finished on even terms with Sally I.
