Sackett entry — Attention, Dispose, Tola Rose. NEW YORK, N. Y., May 8.— With Mrs. Parker Comings Attention, Louis Tufanos Market Wise and the Wood vale Farms Our Boots heading a field of 17 overnight entries in the 5,000 Grey Lag Handicap, the Metropolitan Jockey Club will bid adieu to Gotham racing fans until the fall this afternoon at its egg-shaped Jamaica course, after 27 days of sport which saw all previous records fall by the wayside. Although the track was cuppy and holding at the time of this writing, local officials hope for a fast track before the horses get to the starting gate in the Grey Lag. No more than 10 thoroughbreds were originally regarded as probable starters in the mile and one-eighth headliner, but the appearance of Attention, Pictor and several others not only assured a capacity field, but lent considerable class to the event. When Max Hirsch dropped the name of Attention through the entry box, it caused a great furor among horsemen represented in the field. For the improving son of Equipoise had just come off a gruelling race in the Dixie Handicap at Pimlico on Wednesday, when he placed to Whirlaway, while beating Mioland and Challedon. However, it is the general belief that Hirsch wont start the horse that conquered Whirlaway in the Classic Stakes at Arlington Park last year, unless the strip is fast. In the Dixie, which was contested over the mile and three-sixteenths, Attention led the field into the home lane and didnt succumb to Whirlaways cyclonic charge until the last sixteenth. The Grey Lag, being a sixteenth of a mile shorter, there is a feeling that Attention will be strictly the one to catch — that is, if he gees. Zufelt Assigned Tufano Colt Mount Market Wise, away from competition since The Widener at Hialeah Park, will be a starter, regardless of track conditions and whether Attention is in the post parade or not, the hard-hitting Tufano colt will be one of the most highly respected horses in the field. Trainer G. E. Carroll has selected Ferrill Zufelt to do the booting, while Don Meade will be aboard Attention. Another important threat will be Our Boots, which will have the services of Alfred Robertson in the pilot house. The son of Bull Dcg is another who hasnt been to the races since Florida. Pictor, William L. Branns mighty mite, Who ran up a series of victories in Mary- land last fall to earn a place among the best handicap horses of the year, likely will be a popular outsider in the wagering, especially so if the track is anything but fast. Pictor showed his fondness for the sticky going by capturing the Southern Maryland Handicap this spring at Bowie. Despite his stirring victory in the 0,000 Widener Handicap at Hialeah Park, the Greentree Stables The Rhymer, even though he has a big pull in the weights, will be an extreme outsider in the wagering, fince his Widener conquest The Rhymer has started twice at Jamaica and on both occasions has failed dismally. Al Bchmidl is listed to be in the irons. Rcunding out the field will be Jose Coll Vidals Paul Pry, J. H. Whitneys Gramps, King Ranchs Dispose, H. S. Nesbitts «i:aretor, T. H. Heard, Jr.s, Boysy, which will be ridden by Don Meade, if Attention doesnt start; J. C. Clarks Waller, A. J. Sachets Tola Rose, R. A. Cowards Marriage, Fern Stables Master Henry, W. E. Bcr: -"3 Welcome Pass, Judy-Ed Stables De. Is Crag and Mrs. J. Eitingers Sir Marl ro.
