What the Trainers Say BALTIMORE, Md., May 8.— Trainers of candidates for todays Preakness had the following to say regarding their charges chances in todays Pimlico stake: John M. Gaver Shut Out and Devil Diver — I think the horses have a chance. Vincent Mara Colchis— Hes all right and with Woolf up hell run all right and have a chance. Woolf really knows him. Arthur Fletcher Fair Call — I think hell run pretty well. Hes tighter than he has been and I think he will like this track better. Ben Jones Sun Again — I lean toward running, of course; Ill have to talk to Mr. Wright about it, and running him means hes got a chance. August "Sarge" Swenke Alsab — If its a true-run race I think Sab will see the man. William B. Finnegan Domingo — Hes fit, having run Monday. Hes an improving horse and may go well. Finnegan is manager of the L. B. Mayer racing interests and spoke in the absence of trainer Grace-ton Philpot. Frank Catrone Valdina Orphan — My horse is in the pink of condition and will have no excuses. Were going to get the money. J. H. "Blackie" McCoole Requested — Hes going to run better than he did in the Derby and the one that beats him will win it. George "Fish" Tappen Apache — Assistant to James Fitzsimmons — No alibis for him. Its up to him now. If he runs like he worked the other day he will be hard to get along with.
