Kentucky Notes CHURCHILL DOWNS, Lexington, Ky., May 12. C. Hyde Smith is representing the Canadian Racing Association, and has booked several stables for racing on the Canadian circuit this summer. Among some of the stables to be raced in Canada and leaving here are W. J. Marlman, W. F. Lutz, Elsey Brown, N. H. Cantrell and Frank Tyler. Many more are expected to be added to this list in the next week. Minimum purses are 00 and there will be a total of 98 days of racing on the circuit. Charles Basham, who was expected to make his debut in the saddle before his hometown racing fans last Monday, is still in a local hospital from his recent attack of ptomaine poisoning. According to Walter Wilkerson, his contract employer, the youngster will not launch his career until the early part of the Fairmount Park meeting. J. J. Greely, Sr., is shipping a carload of horses to Lincoln Fields today. Included in the shipment will be Mrs. Marie Evans good distance runner, Shot Put, and several horses belonging to P. A. and R. J. Nash. He reports South Hill broke down and will be temporarily out of training. Frank Ashley, who is serving at the public address microphone at Churchill Downs, will move to Lincoln Fields to resume the same duties there Monday. Walter U. Ridenour will ship his own Joan T. and Thomas B. Cromwells Sym- metry, Stately Soul and Pairlet to Lincoln Fields Friday. Ridenour took up the two-year-old Pairlet at Lexington Monday. Eugene Lutz, here from Lexington, said that he has bred the mare, Only One, to Come Home. Les Lewis announced that his week-old son has been christened Michael Joseph Lewis.
