Hialeah Applies for Dates MIAMI, Fla., June 26.— The Miami Jockey Club, which cancelled its meeting last winter, has applied to the Florida State Racing Commission for a license to conduct a 46-day meeting from January 12 to March 4 next year. This is approximately the same period during which Hialeah Park operated in other seasons. When the racing commission meets here next month to allot dates to horse and dog tracks and the jai alai fronton, it will be confronted with the problem of dividing the season among three horse racing tracks. Dates will be sought for Gulfstream Park and Tropical Park. James Donn, a local business man, is planning to reopen Gulfstream Park, which closed abruptly in 1939 after operating its inaugural meeting for four days. Tropical Park closed after 15 days of racing last winter. Under the new state law, which permits racing from December 1 to April 20, the season was extended to 120 days.
