Illinois News and Notes ARLINGTON at Washington Park,| Homewood, 111., June 26. Victor Sovinski, of Kankakee, 111., has, been honorably discharged from the Army in which he reached the rank of sergeant. I He and his wife, who has horses racing at Washington Park, are spending some time in Chicago. C. C. Kranz arrived at Lincoln Fields ; with four horses. They are Be Calm, Hard Lu, Miss Militant and Duty First. Jockey Lester Balaski, who has been in- active for many months, hopes to get back in the saddle at Washington Park next wefk. Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Friedberg of Louisville, are in Chicago. They have a stable of horses here in charge of Jack Hanover. Col. Robert Scott of the Air Corps, who was a visitor at Washington Park yesterday and today, departs tomorrow for the West Coast. The 3 oclock post time, first race at Washington Park, will be restored on Monday. Earl OHara, for whom William Causey is racing several horses, is here from his home in Beardstown, 111. Cliff Martin, former horseman now in i the Army, is in Chicago on a 10-day leave from Camp Howze in Texas. He is a son Of C. J. Martin, Sr. J. H. Skirvin, trainer of the A. C. Ernst stable, has taken second call on the services of jockey Lyle Whiting for the Arlington meeting. John Marsch has first call. Private fc Ralph Neves, who has been riding here during a furlough, returns to his base over the week-end, but may be back here to ride again next week. M. L. Fallon reported for his Army examination today. Dr. E. R. Thomas, who came here to do some veterinary work, has returned to Lexington, Ky. - Harry Hollander is taking five horses for Jock Wheatley to Toledo, Friday night or Saturday morning. Airsickle and Big Basin, owned by Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Phillips San Mateo Stable, arrived from Chicago and were registered Friday morning. Alex Schlenker, third leading rider here, expects to get away Saturday night for Toledo.
