Bridlespur Easiest Sort Of Spring #Chase Winner Bostwick Fencer Is Ten Lengths Before Shotlo in Pimlico Race BALTIMORE. Md., April 28.— The rather facile manner in which Lt. G. H. "Pete" Bostwick s Bridlespur achieved the initial success of his career in the Spring Maiden Steeplechase Handicap at Pimlico this afternoon, enhances the geldings chances for the more important 0,000 added Jer-vis Spencer, the chase occasion of this combined spring meeting of Marylands four major tracks. The six -year-old son of Hadagal worked his way forward through the field and then swung to the outside while over-powering the leaders to arrive at the finish of the two miles brush fray 10 lengths before John M. Schiffs hard-charging Shotlo. Third position two lengths farther back went to Greentree Stables Picket. The favored Beamish Boy. bothered somewhat by the antics of Sander, who lost his rider at the fourth hazard, was never a serious contender. He wound up sixth in the starting field of 13 narrowed down to 11 at the finish, due to Sanders elimination and Penny Packers failure to negotiate the fifteenth fence. Some 12.000 enthusiasts gathered for the days activities. The flat course was heavy and holding, while the Spring Maiden and nominal feature, presented fourth on the card of eight races, was contested over a muddy turf strip and the winner covered the distance in 4:13!5. For that event Bridlespur, coupled in the wagering with Dimout and Mrs. L. E. Stoddard, Jr.s No-view as the Bostwick -Stoddard entry, was installed second choice and rewarded at .50. The Bostwick coffers were enriched ,500 by the efforts of Bridlespur and Dimout, the latter finishing fourth.
