Trio of Detroit-Owned Horses Have Designs on Rich Stakes DETROIT, Mich., June 29. Detroit-owned horses have not done badly by their patrons in the past. There was Azucar. Back in 1935 at Californias Santa Anita he accounted in surprise fashion for the "Hundred Grander" for Fred M. Alger. Then, the same year, along came a two-year-old named Grand Slam, who, reveling in the mud, humbled rivals in the rich Arlington Futurity while flaunting silks of the locally-owned Bomar Stable of Peter Markey and Charles Bohn. Now theres talk hereabouts of the possibilities of two juveniles and a, three-year-old. The two-year-olds who may go on to make their "mark" are the locally-owned Misweet, who races for Arthur Rose, and Joliette, while the three-year-old mentioned as a probable star performer is Nelson Dunstan. The latter campaigns for James Powers Dearborn Stable and should he measure up to requirements, the son of Ariel will be sent after the American Derby. Currently, however, Joliette holds the spotlight. She may represent A. F. Wall in the Princess Pat and Washington Park Futurity at Chicago later on in the season. Right now she is being pointed for the ,500 Lassies Handicap which will highlight the Independence Day program at the Fair Grounds.
