Empires Holiday Card To Be for War Relief AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 29. New York racings fourth War Relief day comes next week at the Empire City meeting at Jamaica, when the net proceeds of the Tuesday, July 4, holiday program will be turned over to the American Red Cross and the National War Fund. This will be the third year in which the Empire City Racing Association has turned over the Fourth of July, traditionally one of the biggest racing days of any season, to charity. Last year, on this day, a total of 46,460 was realized for war relief. The feature of the July 4 card will be the thirty-fifth running of the Yonkers Handicap. This 510,000 race is for three-year-olds and upward, at a mile and a sixteenth. It has been won for the past two years by William Woodwards Apache. AH the facilities of the race track will be turned over that day to the National War Fund, Inc., who will conduct the racing and share the proceeds with the American Red Cross.
