The gaudy four-year-old bay colt impressed as being one of the fastest sprinters in this area as he sizzled over the six furlongs in the smart time of 1:11% and at no time of the journey did he appear to be asked for his best speed. Three and one-half lengths further away was Mrs. A. M. Creechs Tawny Lady, while the Woolford Farms Legislator defeated Dixianas Chapel Bells and Jules Finks K, Dorko, the only other horses in the small field. Off to a good start, four of the five horses dashed down the backstretch head and head with K. Dorko dropping to the rear immediately and remaining there. As they curved into the bend, Tiger Rebel assumed a short lead and Legislator and Tawny Lady made a futile attempt to go along with him. Spirited Battle for Place Nearing the stretch Tiger Rebel opened up without the need of urging and from there on it was a jaunt for the smart runner. Tawny Lady and Legislator put up a whale of a battle for the place until near the end when the latter weakened. Because of his brilliant record, Tiger Rebel was sent postward at even money. The Winnetka Purse, fifth offering of the afternoon, was one of the better races on the program, but it was marred badly by a poor start which found Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Harris Diderod virtually left at the post. With Diderod eliminated by the mishap, Mrs. Phil Leons Sand Storm stirred up enough dust to get home a length and a half to the good over Mrs. Emil Dene-marks Chesty, while Emery and Karls Free Speech was along in time to nose out Mrs. Clyde Troutts Take Wing for the show. Jack Hodgins, veteran trainer of Dixianas extensive stable here, sent out a running youngster in the Oh Susanna Purse when Fairy Foot, a daughter of Bimelech — Lady Dean, asserted her superiority over six other two-year-old fillies. The young lassie, who was conspicuous in the field because of her lack of stature, forced the pace most of the way, then took over at the head of the stretch and pulled away. She enjoyed the services of Ex-GI Irving Anderson in the saddle.
