PENNY REWARD assumed command at once, set the pace under steady restraint, then held sway under intermittent pressure. BOURBON was always a forward factor and closed willingly under punishment. EL MONO pressed the winners pace to mid-stretch and faltered. TRANCE SLEEPER failed to rally. WAR CHAIN weakened. RAMPANO broke in a tangle and was unable to reach contention after being taken to the outside. PLAY NEDDIE threw her rider and ran off a very short distance before the race. FERNLET, forwardly placed from the beginning, was rated closest to the pace of INTERMISSION into the stretch, raced the latter into submission in the drive, then held DOVER ROAD safe. The latter improved her position steadily, went to the outside for the drive and finished stoutly. MARJORIE T., in contention from the beginning, held on stubbornly. INTERMISSION was hustled to the front at once, saved ground, but weakened under pressure. DARLING GRACE was rank while being steadied early and finished well when settled in stride. NEDDIECAN, under steadying restraint within reach of the early leaders, responded well when called upon to go around the leaders in the stretch and drew out to win with something in reserve. TRUE DREAM, unable to match the speed of the early leaders, improved his position steadily when in full stride and finished well. STANLEY had good speed to take a short early lead and held on well. RINGTHEBELL, forwardly placed from the beginning, weakened in the drive. ESCORT was unable to engage the leaders. GLYNDON MAC, slowest away, made up some ground, but was never dangerous. BUNGALESE, much the best, opened up a clear lead immediately after the beginning, drew out when called upon and was never threatened. REA SON lacked early speed, improved his position leaving the backstretch, secured room on the inside to move up on the turn, came between horses in the drive and finished fast. THE WING raced evenly and forwardly all the way in a good effort. HELVETIAN, closest to the winner all the way, just failed to last for second FIRST PAL, hard urged on the inside, was unable to improve his position. GRAND DESTINY, far back early, closed fast. MAE CASE, well ridden, had good early speed, but was under restraint as SIGNAL CORPS took command in the backstretch, responded well when called upon and wore down the leader gradually in the drive, drawing out slowly. PHARADAY, under steadying restraint until the final turn, went to the outside for the drive and closed fast SIGNAL CORPS was sent to the front at the half-mile pole, drew clear, saved ground and held on well. JAB ME, well rated while racing in the lead with CHANCE FAIR, disposed of the latter on the turn, was not hurried when headed by CONRAD MANN and came on to displace the latter right at the end. CONRAD MANN, far back as usual early, improved his position quickly leaving the backstretch, took command on the turn and opened up a clear lead, but could not withstand the winner at the end. BELLCLAPPER, under restraint early, moved up threateningly on the inside on the final turn, then flattened out. RARE FLARES made a feeble bid on the turn, but weakened.
