Massachusetts Board Reverses Decision on Receiving Barns BOSTON, Mass., May 23. — Suffolk Downs was assured of opening on schedule on Monday when the Massachusetts Racing Commission ruled that the horse race track did not have to build receiving barns to stable its thoroughbreds before each race. The ruling reversed the commissions previous stand that the barns would have to be built to protect the horses from possible stimulation. Horse owners rebelled against this decision and threatened to boycott Suffolk Downs if the barns were constructed. The commission said that a lack of building materials made the proposed construction impractical at this time.
