New York Turf Notes BELMONT, PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 23. Trainer Phil Grosser shipped Cassana, Mono Miller and Santas Vixen to the farm near Red Bank, N. J., to be turned out for several weeks. H. M. Stack, who has several horses in training at Jamaica in charge of Joe Patterson, was an early morning visitor. W. A. "Doc" Crawford, who had been on the sidelines due to illness, took over the Glenwood Farms horses to train. Last fall he turned the horses over to John Swisher. Jockey J. Richard joined the large riding colony at the Belmont Park course. He is under contract to J. B. Theall. Trainer Morris H. Dixon was granted permission of the stewards to equip Polynesian with blinkers in the Roseben Handicap. Assistant starter Oscar Mackey is nursing a bruised foot, sustained when he was hit by a horses head during a starting melee. "Ive been cuffed up many times but this was the first clip Ive ever received while my foot was on the ground," he said. Edward Kilroe, of Aqueduct, was among the days visitors. He distributed horsemens registration blanks for that meeting. A draft of seven horses, consigned to trainer W. Crump, arrived here today. Duval Headley, manager of Sagamore Farm, was a visitor. The Fasig-Tipton company is distributing catalogus for the sale of horses in training which will be held in the paddock on Friday, May 31. Auctioneer George Swinebread will wield the hammer over 36 head. Weights for the Suburban are due on Saturday, five days before its sixteenth running. Jockey J. R. Layton was an arrival and accepted his first mount during the afternoon. He plans to ride here as a free lance. Jockey K. Scawthorn returned from Maryland and will ride for the Christiana Stable here.
