Fourteen Named for Westwood Purse Feature Appears Wide Open Race June T., Juke Box, Blenette, After Eight, Lexingtonian Entered in Lincoln Sprint HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 23.— While there are few, if any, thoroughbreds on tomorrows program blessed with characteristics of championship class, racing secretary Larry Bogenschutz has molded together a full quota of eight races that should furnish enough heated action to satisfy turfites who turn out for the 11th day of the current Lincoln Fields 30-day session being conducted here. The top race on the bill will be the West-wood Purse, to be decided over the six-furlong distance as the sixth race. In this dash 14 four-year-olds and upward have been. entered overnight. A quartet of horses who already have graced the winners circle here are among the most highly regarded sprinters in the race. They are Mrs. G. H. Emicks June T., River Divide Farms Blenette, Joenace Stables Juke Box and W. H. Bishops After Eight. Three of these won their last races here over muddy tracks, and it will be interesting to note how they fare on a cardboard-like strip. June T., a five-year-old daughter of Big Brand — Donna C, came to her own last Saturday, when she finished in a dead-heat for first place with Topic. She will be moving up several notches in class in this race, and must continue to improve, according to the more exacting observers here. Overcame Interference to Score Blenette showed a powerful effort to score her victory. Against Victory Blue, Bosage, Three Clovers and others she was forced to overcome serious interference in the stretch to score. As she made a strong bid on the inside rail, the leader, Victory Blue, swerved in and forced her jockey. Art McKlemurry, to take up sharply. So superior was she to her adversaries, however, that Blenette was able to regain stride in a jiffy, and then take to the outside to win going away. Juke Box enjoyed an easier race than the others in his victory. He stepped along nicely with the early leaders and, when he was called upon at the end of the stretch, he forged to the front and scored convincingly. After Eight earned his smart victory at the expense of Kamps Reward, Pikers Bid and others on a fast track. He, too, will be moving up into tougher company. Despite their impressive form at this track, there is a chance that neither June T., After Eight, Juke Box or Blenette will be favored, for, if A. B. Gays Lexingtonian gets to the post, he will demand his share of support. Scratched from yesterdays program, Lexingtonian has been racing well in Kentucky, where he won once and finished in the money on two other occasions in three starts this year. The gelding is a versatile sort, who has proven himself capable at middle distances as well as sprints. Others in the 14-horse field are Captain Fury, Royal Risk, Hop Picker, Tasajillo, Zacapet, Even Stitch, Fire Works, Valdina Seer and Calm Port.
