SWIFT TOWN was steadied back of the leaders, moved around on the outside on the final turn and was up under hard urging. UP FRONT trailed early, moved up with a rush on the far turn and, finishing fast on the outside, was wearing down the winner. DEVILS ISLAND moved into a clear lead in the backstretch and saved ground, but weakened. LARKMEAD JANE improved her position gradually, but could not threaten the leaders. ROSE CANYON closed some ground in the late stages. BRILLIANT JR. was unable to engage the leaders at any stage and flattened out under pressure. TRY FLIGHT quit badly after showing early speed.
