Suffolk Downs Is Scene Of Murder and Suicide SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 12. — Suffolk Downs was the scene of a murder and suicide this morning at 11:15, when Mrs. Bea Simon, owner and manager of S. B. Simon Company, Inc., track concessionaires, was slain by Eddie Shames, a cousin of her late hubsand, who then turned the gun on himself. The tragedy occurred after a heated argument in Mrs. Simons office in the grandstand here. Shames, who was the late Sam Simons chief assistant prior to entrance into the armed forces, was discharged from the organization back in 1942 and it is believed financial dealings probably were responsible for the incident.
