Chester Cup Stakes Goes To French-Bred Asmodee CHESTER, England, May 12 Reuters. — The Chester Cup Stakes, over two and one-quarter miles, was won by the French-bred Asmodee, owned by Paul Eubosq and ridden by the Australian Jockey, Tommy Burns, here Saturday. Asmodee beat Star Song by a head, with Saintly Thoughts another head behind in third place. The winner is by Dadji, out of Asperge and started at odds of 10 to 1. Star Song, ridden by Douglas Smith, made his challenge in the last hundred yards, but Burns held Asmodee together to get the verdict. The favorite, Retsel, was not in the picture after a mile and one-half.
