Three Remaining Stakes at Havre 0,000 Handicap, Breeders Event and Eastern Shore to Be Staged Last Seven Days HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., May 17.— Racing during the second meeting at this historic Harford County course enters its second full week on Monday. There are two stakes to be renewed during this span, with a third fixture slated to highlight the closing-day program on Monday, May 26. Principal interest during the coming week will center in the 0,000 Havre de Grace Handicap, one of the host associations more historic stakes, which will have its thirty-sixth running on Saturday. This one mile and a furlong contest has been won by such stalwart, members of the handicap division as Omar Khayyam, Crusader, Osmand, Sun Beau, Equipoise, Good Goods, Challedon and Thumbs Up, and there is every reason to believe racing secretary Charles McLennan will muster another sterling field for this years renewal. Maryland-foaled juveniles will bask in the spotlight on Wednesday in the first running of the Havre de Grace Breeders Stakes at four and one-half furlongs. Pep Well Havre Prospect Concluding the list of stakes offered here this spring will be the Eastern Shore Stakes one week from Monday. This is another of Havre de Graces most prominent fixtures and usually draws a brilliant field of two-year-olds for a dash of five furlongs. The fact that such noted members of the division as Armed, Assault and Stymie will not be in the line-up for the Havre de Grace Handicap augurs well for a good-sized group of contestants for Saturdays headliner. There seems little likelihood at this time than any one of the three above-mentioned stars will be sent here to start in the race. Rated as possibilities for the event Ly McLennan are H. Guy Bedwells Prognosis, Calumet Farms Pep Well, Christiana Stables Alexis, John Hammonds Butler, either Mahout or Trymenow, owned by Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords, King Ranchs Flash Burn and Amanecer, K. Stanley Sagners fleet, but apparently fragile colt, Saggy, holder of the worlds record for four and one -half furlongs, set at the first meeting here, is among the Eastern Shore candidates and he may be opposed by such stalwart contemporaries as E. K. Brysons Equibit, Calumet Farms Citation, Cedar Farms Brandy Punch, T. C. Eastmans Eternal Day, Mrs. R. H. Heighes Kashmir or Winterberry, King Ranchs Task, John Lees Major and possibly three or four others. With 135 juveniles nominated for the Breeders Stakes on Wednesday, a field of a dozen at least, is in prospect. Some interesting sport is in prospect for Monday, with the one mile and 70 yards St. Michaels Purse, for four-year-olds and upward in grade "D" occupying top billing on the rather well-balanced program. Service Pilot, one of the more prominent Havre de Grace Handicap candidates, is among the overnight entries. In addition to the Christiana Stables router, the St. Michaels comprises C. O. Fergusons On the River Mrs. Wallace Percys Noble One, H. Guy Bedwells Hammer-Lock and Mrs. J. D. Colemans Boston Man. The latter will be making his first start of the Maryland spring racing season.
