SNAPPY VERSE had the most speed from the beginning while under mild restraint, was allowed to open a commanding lead rounding the final turn, then withstood a long drive to best FADO. The latter worked his way forward on the inside, moved to the winner in the final yards, then hung. LUCKY B. raced on the outside and could not gain in the drive. COUNT FORAY could not reach the lead and quit. NEWSCASTER never threatened. WONDERWHO, fractious at the post, was eased back next to the rail after the beginning and had no chance thereafter. ONE UP, hustled along early to reach contention, was taken under light restraint through the backstretch, then moved up strongly on the turn and was reaching the winner. MANNEQUIN forced the pace for half a mile, then weakened. AMERICAN EAGLE never threatened. THUNDER HOOF was overmatched. Overweight— Thunder Hoof, 2 pounds. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. BROWN VALLEY, unhurried when outrun by PROM DATE early, opened a commanding lead after a half mile and maintained his advantage under a drive ON THE DOUBLE moved into a contending position through the backstretch and was hard ridden through the stretch, but could not reach the winner and just lasted to best INSOLATE. INSOLATE, within striking distance while racing between horses, finished well under punishment. WAR RIPPLE dropped back from a fast start and saved ground, then closed with good courage. NAVY DAY raced forwardly and evenly. BOTTLE KNIGHT never threatened. GOOD DECISION tireo. HAPPY PAT quit. GOLD CLOCK appeared very sore aoina to the post and pulled up lame. PRIME MINISTER was fractious at the gate and showed nothing. HALF LIT APPEARED SORE GOING TO THE POST AND WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED BY THE STEWARDS. ALL WAGERS ON HER WERE REFUNDED.
